Chocobo Dyeing
If you are a new player to FFXIV, then WELCOME! If you’ve made it to level 20, you’ve unlocked the ability to make friends with a new companion; you get your very own Chocobo! To unlock her or him, you must go to your respective Grand Company and complete the quest My Little Chocobo.
By level 30, you will be able to do more with your Chocobo. But first, you must complete two more quests located in Central Shroud, Bird in Hand and My Fiesty Little Chocobo. The former lets you stable, raise, and dye your chocobo while the latter turns your chocobo into a fighting companion, available to fight alongside you as you level up out in the world!
As you may know, a typical chocobo starts off as the beautiful and majestic color, DESERT YELLOW. As beautiful as a DESERT YELLOW chocobo is, you may prefer a different color. To change your chocobo’s color, you must first stable it (which you can do for free at any of our large Free Company Houses), then you must feed it a required variety and number of specific fruit depending on the color you wish the chocobo to be. You can use the following calculator to determine which fruit your chocobo needs to attain your desired color:
However, it can be prohibitively expensive for newer players to purchase the fruit needed to dye their chocobos. Well, lucky for you, here at SWORD we offer these fruit for FREE! Just message an Officer in your Free Company and they will be happy to get you the fruit you need or stop by the SWORD Cafe Fruit Stall during normal SWORD Cafe hours to get some!
